SELF-PORTRAIT SERIES, 2004-2011

In the early stages of my career I executed many large scale coloured pencil drawings on paper. These self-portraits were basically my trademark at the Fine Art Academy in Vienna. I digitally adjusted photos, then scaled them up meticulously by hand without using any optical aids. Back then I was extremely interested in exploring the boundaries of this method.
My artistic research these days is still based on the relationship of the analogue and digital, mechanical and manual methods. Classical sujets as well appear in my practice time to time, but around 2010 I broke up with photorealism.
